This site is dedicated to the memory of Joyce Fort.

To a wonderful lady- my Grandma. This bright life known to me as Gran was also know by others as Little Joycie, Mum or Yoda as my dad would joke. It was hard for anyone who met Gran, not to immediately feel at home in her company. Visiting her house was comforting, she made everything better, she was everything that was good in the world. No matter what time of day you turned up to Grans, she would always look overjoyed that you were there, it was like the door was always open. She’d try to fatten us up by offering food after food, always offering to make drinks, even though we wouldn’t let her lift a finger to do anything when we were there. Me and Gran would sit together on the couch, with the fire on, watching one of her programmes like Rosemary & Thyme or Lewis and all would feel right in the world. And you could have thee best naps there. She was the tiniest old lady and eventually I outgrew her until she nearly fit perfectly under my arm. Her smile was full of love and she would laugh like she was 20 years old. Even in her 80s she would play practical jokes, once she pretended there was something on my shoulder and after I screamed in terror, she pointed at me and let out a huge cackle at her own joke. She was cheeky sometimes  She smelt like hairspray and cigarettes. I always knew that one day I’d be without her and I miss her with all my heart but I know she is with Grandad now, probably potter in a beautiful garden with Grandad sunbathing as he did, in his baggy red shorts. So to a wonderful lady, my Gran, I love you x
